TiVo is proud to be a founding sponsor of the Smart Technology Alliance. The STA is a coalition of national nonprofit organizations united by a shared commitment to improving what our nation's children see on television. Television is one of the most powerful mediums in the world. It can educate, inspire, and entertain us. At the same time, some content on TV might send our children a very different message — one that undermines the positive values parents and caregivers are trying to instill in young people today.

The organization doesn't encourage children to watch more television. Instead, the goal is to help parents and caregivers easily find television programming that is educational and entertaining for kids, on the parents' schedules. Then parents can fit in the best shows — at the most convenient times — with other important activities like reading with their children.

Since our founding in 1997, TiVo has been committed to developing technological solutions to improve the lives of consumers and their families. In 2006, TiVo® added TiVo KidZone, an award winning feature enabling parents to easily find quality shows and block inappropriate TV programming — a simple solution to parental worries about what kids watch on TV.

TiVo continues to stay involved in helping to educate parents and find technology solutions for bringing quality education and entertainment to everyone.
