TiVo Advisors Panel Participation policy

Overview
We value our panelists' feedback very highly, and in return we hope to make panelist membership an enjoyable experience. 

Privacy and confidentiality of panelist information are a priority for us.  We manage panelist data as aggregated information; that is, individual panelist data is grouped together with data from many other panelists and is not examined individually.  

Eligibility
The TiVo Advisors panel is open to TiVo subscribers who have at least one active TiVo Series2, TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, or TiVo Premiere unit in their home. Subscribers using a DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo (an integrated unit that ONLY works with DIRECTV) are not currently eligible to join the panel.

TiVo reserves the right to refuse admission, suspend or dismiss any subscriber from the panel at any time and for any reason, or no reason.

Signing Up for the Panel
Eligible TiVo subscribers can express their interest in joining the panel by visiting http://www3.tivo.com/panel/index.do and following the instructions.  Subscribers may also occasionally see a Showcase on their TiVo box where they can express interest in the panel. 

From the list of interested subscribers, TiVo invites interested subscribers to join the panel on a regular basis. However, expressing interest in the panel does not guarantee an invitation to join the panel.

Personal Information
Upon receiving an invitation to join the panel, as part of the panel registration process, subscribers will be asked to complete an introductory survey that requests some personal information. This information allows us to target future studies that may require participants with specific profiles and interests. This information will never be used to target a panelist specifically nor to send the panelist any form of targeted marketing.

Our panelists' personal Account Information is confidential and will not be sold to a third-party in any personally identifiable form. However, the Account Information may be used or shared with a third-party in order to develop new products.

Privacy Preferences
To participate in the TiVo Advisors panel, panelists must agree to modify their privacy preferences to allow TiVo to collect and use Personally Identifiable Viewing Information consistent with the TiVo Privacy Policy. Personally Identifiable Viewing Information is information about the viewing choices that you and those in your household make while using your TiVo DVR, if that information is linked to or associated with your Contact Information by TiVo.  During the initial registration process, you will be asked to agree to this change. 

For the purposes of the TiVo Advisors panel, Personally Identifiable Viewing Information will be analyzed in aggregate. Research will not examine the habits of individual households, but will instead analyze patterns and trends within the panel as a group – for example, "How many panel households have a Season Pass to this show?"

Depending on the particular survey, data for research reports may be generated from Personally Identifiable Viewing Information from TiVo DVRs as well as aggregated anonymous data collected from web browsing using a cookie contained in panel survey(s). The research reports, which TiVo may share with its partners, will contain information only in aggregate form.

How We Contact You
After completing registration, panelists will receive invitations to future studies via email.  The panelist should set any spam filters to accept mail from advisors.tivo.com. 

If your email address changes, please use the link at the bottom of any survey invitation email to change your email address for panel surveys. If you do not have a survey invitation email handy, contact us at contact@panel.tivo.com so that we can adjust your panelist record.

Survey Participation
Survey invitations contain a link to an online survey and information about any prizes the panelist might win by completing the survey.  Participation in each survey is voluntary; there is no penalty for not taking part in a survey. 

Each survey is open for a limited period of time.  Most surveys take less than 10 minutes to complete, though survey length necessarily varies.  The value of the incentive(s) for a particular survey generally depends on the length or difficulty of the survey. 

Panelists are free to complete part of a survey initially and return to complete it later, as long as the survey is still open.  Partial responses will not be lost. 

Note that although we conduct numerous panel surveys, there is no guarantee that any individual panel member will be selected for a particular survey, or any survey at all.

Leaving the Panel
If you would like to leave the panel, please use the link at the bottom of any survey invitation email to resign from the panel. You may also email us at contact@panel.tivo.com.  We will respond to your request within 72 hours.
