TiVo Wins Big at the EMMYs

TiVo Steals the Show and Takes Home an EMMY

TiVo Apologizes to Fans of Ralph Waldo Emerson

After nearly a decade of the television industry taking a hands-off approach to the entire category of Digital Video Recording pioneered by TiVo, the company received major recognition at last night's EMMYs telecast for revolutionizing the television landscape and changing the way America watches television. Reviewing the long list of winners and losers, the outcome is clear: TiVo came out on top. A powerful testament to its impact and staying power, TiVo garnered more accolades and airtime than many of Hollywood's most famous faces at last night's ceremony.

First Conan O'Brien's opening musical routine featured TiVo, when he declared that because of "TiVo," "all of TV is changing, and we have to change with it." TiVo also had a second star turn in the spotlight in the middle of the broadcast when Conan O'Brien paid comic homage to TiVo, by speeding wordlessly through his impassioned reading of the words of the great American writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, as if powered by the fast-forward feature of a TiVo DVR,.

Tom Rogers, CEO of TiVo said, "In the tradition of EMMYs acceptance speeches, I would like to thank Conan O'Brien and the Academy for their refreshing candor, acknowledging the hard work and innovation of our engineers for inventing the DVR and transforming America's living rooms.

"I would also like to offer our apologies to viewers across America who were hoping to hear the words of beloved American icon Ralph Waldo Emerson. So, for all of the Emerson fans across America, I'd like to take this opportunity to share a couple of inspiring quotes from the man himself -- mottos which we live by here at TiVo:

"Hitch your wagon to a star"

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm"

Those who would enjoy a fuller reading of Emerson's works should contact TiVo.

Rounding out its EMMYs winning streak, TiVo was the one-and-only DVR to be recognized with a 2006 Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in enhanced television programming at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
