If there is one cable coming from the wall and connecting directly to your TV then you do NOT have a cable box. You have “basic” or “analog” cable service.

You have a cable box if there is a box with a special remote control (NOT your TV’s remote control) that you use to change the channel on your TV. If you have digital cable or HD cable channels, then you probably have a cable box between the cable that comes out of the wall and your TV.
