TiVo® Desktop Plus software for PC
TiVo Desktop Plus software works with your network-connected TiVo DVR and your PC.
Upgrade the free version of TiVo Desktop software for the PC and get these additional features:
- Convert shows for playback on your iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, PSP or other compatible device
- Transfer compatible web videos to your TiVo DVR for viewing on your TV
Supported video formats include:
- Windows Media Video (.wmv)
- QuickTime Movie (.mov)
- MPEG-4/H.264 (.mp4, .m4v, .mp4v)
- MPEG-2 (.mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpv2)
- DivX and Xvid (.avi, .divx)*
*Divx and Xvid formats must be encoded with the DivX codec, version 4 or higher, or with the Xvid codec. No other video formats are supported within .AVI files.
Files with digital rights management (DRM) or other copy protection are not supported.
Here's how to get TiVo Desktop Plus:
- First: Download the free TiVo Desktop software for PC.
- Then: Purchase a license key to unlock the functionality of TiVo Desktop Plus.
System requirements:
In order to run TiVo Desktop Plus, your computer should meet or exceed the following hardware requirements:
- 2.2 GHz P4 or equivalent processor
- 1 GB RAM
- 5 GB free disk space, plus an additional 1 to 3GB for each hour of Standard Definition programs or an additional 5GB for each hour of HD programs you transfer .
Your computer must also meet the following software requirements:
- Windows® 7, Windows® Vista, or Windows® XP, with Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.
Your computer should always meet the minimum hardware requirements for the version of Windows installed, which may differ.
We also recommend installation of the following software:
- Windows Media Player 11
- Java™ Runtime environment 1.5.0_06 or higher if running Windows XP or Java Runtime environment 1.6 or higher if running Windows Vista. You may check the version installed on your machine by going to http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp and clicking on the 'Verify Installation' button.
Note for users of Windows XP: To run the TiVo Desktop installer, you must have "power user" (Administrator account) administrative rights on your Windows computer. This level of administrative rights is provided by default. If your administrative rights have never been changed, you should be able to install the TiVo Desktop software.
