Find your “Start Here” poster
When your TiVo Premiere arrives, be sure to locate the "Start Here" poster inside the packing box. This easy-to-follow guide gives you step-by-step instructions for installing your Premiere. Follow the simple steps and your Premiere will be ready to use in no time.
Premiere Setup WizardConnect to the Internet
When you connect your Premiere to the Internet via your home network, you'll be able to download Premiere's HD user interface. You'll also have access the world's largest on-demand video library through TiVo online partners like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube™ and others. What's more, you'll be able schedule recordings from anywhere on the web or your mobile phone.
Don't have Internet
If you're not able to connect your Premiere to the Internet at this time, you can access the standard-definition user interface and connect to the TiVo service with an existing phone line. The TiVo service will still find and record all of your favorite shows, keep your TV schedule up to date, and make sure your Premiere has all the latest software updates. In order to connect your Premiere using a phone line, you must purchase a TiVo Phone Line Adapter. Please note: the phone line adapter only works with the TiVo Premiere or Premiere XL, and does NOT work with the TiVo Premiere XL4.
Order your CableCARD™
There are 5 primary steps for enabling your TiVo to decode your cable channels:
- Order an M-Card. You can often pick one up at the local cable service center or have the technician bring one to you for a small service fee.
- Connect the cables and setup your TiVo.
- Install the card by inserting it in the rear CableCARD™ slot with the label facing up.
- Activate the card by calling the cable company and telling them you want to activate and pair the CableCARD™ with your TiVo. If the cable technician is present, they will make the call for you.
- Test your channels and complete Guided Setup if you have not done so already.
The FCC requires cable companies to provide CableCARDs, if you have any problems call our Technical Support at 1-877-367-8486 and we will perform a 3-way call with your cable company.
