Amazon Instant Video on TiVo enables you to rent or buy over 90,000 movies and TV shows—with thousands of titles in breathtaking HD—and have them automatically downloaded to your broadband-connected TiVo box. To download movies and shows from Amazon Instant Video on TiVo, you must first link your TiVo and Amazon accounts. See the instructions below for details.

Before you begin: Linking your Amazon and TiVo accounts

Before you can start downloading movies and TV shows to your TiVo box you need to go through a one-time setup process to link your amazon.com account and your tivo.com account together. Once you have this set up you will be able to easily order videos from your TiVo box or from amazon.com any time you're in the mood.

Show the steps
  1. On your computer, sign into your tivo.com account at tivo.com/manage.
  2. Select "DVR preferences" on the left, and make sure your TiVo boxes are enabled for video downloads.
  3. Sign in to your amazon.com account and confirm it is set up for 1-Click® purchasing.
  4. Go to www.amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/tivo.
  5. Click the "Register Now" button and follow the instructions to link your Amazon and TiVo accounts.
  6. Once your registration is complete, you can start selecting movies and TV shows to download to by either going to TiVo Central on your TiVo box and following the instructions in the section below, or by going to www.amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/tivo.

Note: You can also link your accounts directly from your TiVo box.

  • On TiVo Premiere with HD menus: go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Find TV, movies, & videos' > 'Amazon Instant Video'
  • On all other TiVo boxes or on TiVo Premiere with SD menus: go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Video on Demand' > 'Amazon Instant Video.'

Select a video you would like to download. You will then be prompted to do the one-time account linking by providing your amazon.com email address, your amazon.com password and your tivo.com password. To complete your linking you will set up a 5-digit PIN that you will use every time you rent or purchase a video from the TV.

Finding and downloading TV & movies — from your TV

Once your accounts are linked you can easily find and download movies right from your couch.

Show the steps
  1. On your TiVo box, do one of the following:
    • On TiVo Premiere with HD menus: go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Find TV, movies, & videos' > 'Amazon Instant Video'.See it
    • On all other TiVo boxes or on TiVo Premiere with SD menus: go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Video on Demand' > 'Amazon Instant Video.'See it
  2. From here you can browse top movie rentals, special deals, the latest TV episodes, and more.See it
  3. When you find a video you want, select the rental or purchase option you prefer, and enter your 5-digit PIN. Your video will begin to download in a few minutes and will appear in your "Now Playing" or "My Shows" list.See it

Note: You can also search for your favorites.

  • On TiVo Premiere with HD menus: go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Find TV, movies, & videos' > 'Search.'
  • On all other TiVo boxes or on TiVo Premiere with SD menus: Go to 'TiVo Central' > 'Find Programs' > 'Swivel Search'

Use your TiVo remote control to enter part of a title or an actor's name. Search results will include available Amazon downloads.

Finding and downloading TV & movies – from your computer

Even if you are away from your TiVo box you can still browse, search, and purchase videos to be downloaded. Here's how:

  1. Go to amazon.com and search the Video On Demand offerings for a movie or TV show you want to watch.
  2. When you find a video you want, click on it.
  3. Look for the "Rent" or "Buy" buttons.
  4. Click the appropriate button to complete your transaction, and a pop-up will allow you to select your TiVo box.
  5. Your video will begin to download within a few minutes and will appear in your "Now Playing" or "My Shows" list.

Note: HD movies are available only from your TiVo box, not from amazon.com. HD television shows are available from both your TiVo box and from amazon.com.

Rentals must be viewed within 24 hours of starting playback. Rentals not started after 30 days will be deleted, and must be re-rented to view. Purchases may be kept on your TiVo box as long as you like. If you delete one you can typically re-download it at no additional charge from your Amazon Media Library.
