How to stream or transfer shows between TiVo DVRs

When you have more than one TiVo DVR connected to your home network, you can easily stream or transfer shows between them.

Before you begin, make sure that all TiVo boxes are connected to your home network. See how to connect your TiVo box to your home network.

This feature is available on:

  • All TiVo Premiere DVRs

Streaming shows between TiVo DVRs (Multi-Room Streaming) is only available on TiVo Premiere DVRs. Transferring shows (downloading) between TiVo DVRs is availble on all TiVo boxes.

Streaming shows

Streaming means watching a video directly from another device; there’s no need to transfer or download the show before watching it! And here’s an added benefit: streaming gives you access to premium content that can't be transferred due to copyright restrictions! Streaming shows is easy:

Show the steps
  1. Go to the TiVo box that you want to stream shows to. For this example, let's call it the Bedroom Premiere.
  2. Press the TiVo button twice to get to the Bedroom Premiere's "My Shows" list.
  3. From the bottom of the Bedroom Premiere's "My Shows" list, select the TiVo Premiere you want to stream shows from. (Available TiVo boxes in your home network are marked in the "My Shows" list with a DVR icon: ) Let's call this the Living Room Premiere. See it
  4. The remote TiVo box's list will be displayed. Select the show you want to stream from the Living Room Premiere to the Bedroom Premiere, then press PLAY.

    If the show is paused on the Living Room Premiere, you'll have the option to resume playing from the paused location, or to start playing from the beginning. As you watch, you can pause, fast-forward, or rewind the show. See it

Transferring shows

Transfer shows between TiVo DVRs with just a few clicks of the remote. Here's how:

Show the steps
  1. Go to the TiVo box that you want to transfer shows to. For this example, let's say it's called the Family Room Premiere.
  2. Press the TiVo button twice to get to the Family Room Premiere's "My Shows" list.
  3. From the bottom of the "My Shows" list, select the TiVo Premiere you want to transfer shows from. (Available TiVo boxes in your home network are marked in the "My Shows" list with a DVR icon: ) Let's assume you select Living Room Premiere. See it
  4. Select the show you want to transfer from the Living Room Premiere to the Family Room Premiere, then select "Transfer this recording."

    You can watch the show while it transfers, or save it for later. If the show is paused on the Living Room Premiere, you'll have the option to watch or transfer it from the paused location, or to watch or transfer it from the beginning. As you watch, you can pause, fast-forward, or rewind the show. See it
