  • A phone line is not needed if you have software version 7.2 or later installed on your DVR. Your DVR can connect to the TiVo Service via your home network.
  • After you complete Guided Setup, your DVR must be able to connect to the TiVo service periodically. If your DVR does not make periodic connections to the TiVo service, you may start to receive messages indicating that your DVR is running low on program information. If your DVR runs out of program information, you will no longer be able to schedule recordings, and your service will be interrupted.
