WARNING: If you are using a Microsoft Windows Vista PC:

• You must have administrative privileges to uninstall TiVo Desktop 2.4 or earlier.
• Use the TiVo Desktop Cleaner utility to uninstall TiVo Desktop 2.4.

WARNING: Do not attempt to uninstall Tivo Desktop for Windows using the Remote Desktop feature.

Uninstall TiVo Desktop for Windows
Uninstall TiVo Desktop for Macintosh

To uninstall TiVo Desktop for Windows, perform the following steps:

1.  From Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.

NOTE: The location of the Control Panel may vary based on the version of Windows.

2.  From the Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.

If you are using a Microsoft Windows Vista PC, click the Programs category within the Control Panel window, then Programs and Features.

3.  Within the Add/Remove Programs window, scroll to and select TiVo Desktop. Click Remove.

If you are using a Microsoft Windows Vista PC, scroll to and select the TiVo Desktop entry within the Programs and Features window. Click the Uninstall/Change button.

NOTE: If you are uninstalling TiVo Desktop from a Microsoft Windows Vista PC and you see a message indicating that processes are running, click Ignore to continue the uninstall.

To uninstall TiVo Desktop for Macintosh, perform the following steps:

1.  From the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

2.  Under Other, click TiVo Desktop.

NOTE: If the TiVo Desktop says On, click Stop. If the TiVo Desktop says Off, continue to Step 3. 

3.  From the desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon. 

4.  Navigate to /Library/PreferencesPanes. Click TiVo Desktop.prefPane and drag it to the trash.

5.   Navigate to /Library/Application Support. Click TiVo and drag it to the trash.

6.  Navigate to /Library/StartupItems. Click TiVoDesktop and drag it to the trash.

NOTE: If you want to keep your TiVo Desktop settings, skip Step 7.

7.  To erase TiVo Desktop settings, navigate to /Library/Preferences. Click com.tivo.desktop and drag it to the trash.

8.  From the Apple menu, click Restart.
