Connecting two DVRs without a home network via wired ethernet cable

14-12-01Search Reference Number

To connect two TiVo Series2 DVRs using a wired ethernet cable, the following hardware is needed:

  • 2 compatible Ethernet adapters (TiVo Series2 Single Tuner DVR only)
  • 1 Crossover cable

Note:The Series2 DT (dual tuner), Series3 and TiVo HD DVR are each equipped with an Ethernet port, so you will not need an Ethernet adapter.

You will need a special Ethernet cable called a crossover cable to complete this setup. Crossover cables are available at most electronic stores and will have "crossover" clearly printed on the packaging and on the cables themselves. If longer cabling is needed, do not use more than one crossover cable.

To connect two TiVo DVRs without a home network via wired Ethernet cable, perform the following steps:

Step one:Connect the USB end of the Ethernet adapter to the USB port on the first TiVo DVR.
