ParagraphThese instructions are for selecting a cable provider and configuring channel lineups for a Series2 DT (dual tuner) DVR. If you have a single tuner DVR, seeHow Do I Configure My Cable Provider (Single Tuner DVR)?

To select your cable provider and configure your channel lineups in Guided Setup, perform the following steps:

Step one:On the Cable Box? screen in Guided Setup, highlight Yes if you have cable with a cable box, or No if you have basic cable (no box), and press SELECT.

  • If you have a cable box, go to Step 2.
  • If you do not have a cable box, go to Step 12.

Step two:On the Digital Cable? Screen, highlight the correct answer and press SELECT.

Note:If you choose “I’m not sure”, the DVR will perform additional tests later to determine if your cable box is digital.

Step three:The Enable Dual Tuner? screen displays the hardware setup required to be able to view/record two channels at once. Make sure your hardware setup matches the diagram, highlight Yes, I connected the splitter as shown, and then press SELECT.

Note:If you need to change your hardware setup, see How Do I Set Up My Dual Tuner DVR with a Cable Box?

Step four:The Dual Tuner Setup screen describes the dual tuner feature. Press SELECT to continue.

Step five:On the Cable Provider screen, highlight the name of your cable provider and press SELECT.

Step seven:The DVR will ask what is on certain cable box channels. In each case, highlight your answer and press SELECT.

Note:Your answers help the DVR select the correct lineup from among the ones available in your zip code. For the cable box tests, you will not see video in the background. If you do not know what TV station you receive on a certain channel, consult your local TV listings, check your cable provider’s web site, or call your cable provider.

Step eight:On the Premium Channels screen, highlight Yes if you receive any channels from your cable provider that cost extra, or No if you do not, and then press SELECT.

  • If you answered Yes, go to Step 9.
  • If you answered No, go to Step 11.

Step nine:On the Premium Channel List screen, scroll through the list and press SELECT to place a checkmark next to each premium channel you receive. The selected channels will appear in your Guide and you will see their program listings when you pick programs to record.

Note:You can use the CHAN UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through the list of premium channels, or press number buttons on your remote (you do not need to press ENTER) to jump directly to a specific channel.

Step ten:When you finish selecting the premium channels you receive, press the RIGHT arrow on your remote to highlight Done, and then press the RIGHT arrow again.

Note:The RIGHT arrow is on the large round button under the TiVo button.

Note:The channels you are asked about are ones that vary between the basic cable lineups available for your zip code. You will see video in the background to help you make your choice. If you still do not know what TV station you receive on a certain channel, consult your local TV listings, check your cable provider’s web site, or call your cable provider.

Step fourteen:When you see the Basic Cable Channels screen, press SELECT.

Step fifteen:The DVR will now ask if you see video, to test the signals coming from your cable box (if present) and basic cable connections. Highlight the answer to each question and press SELECT.

Note:If you do not see video, the DVR will perform troubleshooting tests. Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and correct the problem.
