Notice of Changes

We have been hard at work improving TiVo’s products and services, and today we are updating the TiVo Privacy Policy and User Agreement to make them simpler and easier to understand, while ensuring that we can provide you with a personalized TiVo experience across multiple platforms.

For example, we used to have two different privacy policies (one covering our website and one our subscription service) and several user agreements (including the TiVo website terms, store terms, and service agreement). As you can now access your favorite programming across multiple TVs and web-enabled devices, we want to make our policies consistent across all of the ways you might use the TiVo service. To do so, we consolidated all of our terms into a new User Agreement, and we brought together the important information about our privacy practices into a single Privacy Policy.

While we encourage you to review both documents, we want to point out a few things that might be of interest:

  • The new Privacy Policy and User Agreement cover your use of all of TiVo’s products, including TiVo DVRs, the TiVo Mini, the TiVo Stream, TiVo mobile apps, and
  • TiVo has always suggested TV shows and movies for you to record that we think you’ll like. Under our new Privacy Policy, we may use information about you and your use of TiVo products for things like improving your content, services, and offers and delivering them to you across multiple devices.
  • We don’t sell or share your personal information with third parties unless you give us permission to do so (except for the limited cases outlined in our new Privacy Policy). We may share non-personal or aggregated information, like usage reports or the popularity of a particular show.
  • We give you choices like whether to receive marketing e-mails from us, take part in aggregated reporting, or enable location capabilities in our mobile apps.
  • We have added a binding arbitration clause with a class action/jury trial waiver.

The updated policies are effective now, though if you do not wish to be bound by the new dispute resolution provision, you can opt out by sending us notice within the next 30 days as described in the “Dispute Resolution” section of the User Agreement. We suggest that you take a few minutes to read the updated policies at

Thank you for using TiVo products and services!
