Start your TiVo BOLT experience in
3… 2… 1!

When your TiVo BOLT arrives, find the Product Feature booklet inside the packing box. This easy-to-follow guide gives you step-by-step instructions for installing your new BOLT. Follow the simple steps and you'll be living the BOLT life in no time.

Using BOLT with cable? Start here.

TiVo BOLT works with your existing cable service, so ditch that old cable DVR. To enjoy cable channels on your BOLT, order a CableCARD™ (M-Card) from your cable provider. This small card gives you access to all your cable channels and simply plugs into the bottom of your BOLT. Pick one up at your nearest cable service center, or have a technician from your cable company install it for you. The FCC requires cable companies to provide CableCARDs, so they have to accommodate your request.

  • Connect the cables and set up your TiVo.
  • Install the card by inserting it in the bottom CableCARD slot with the label facing up.
  • To activate the card, just call the cable
company and ask them to activate and
pair the CableCARD with your TiVo BOLT.
If the cable technician is present, they
    can call for you.
  • Test your channels and complete the Guided Setup by selecting "Test Channels."

Connect TiVo BOLT to the Internet.

TiVo BOLT requires an Internet connection so TiVo service can deliver your channel guide updates daily and stream content from providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO GO, VUDU, Pandora and YouTube. It also provides unique SkipMode functionality and lets you stream content to your mobile device.

Use one of the following methods to connect your TiVo BOLT to the Internet:

Wired Ethernet

Plug Ethernet cable into the back of your TiVo BOLT.

This method is ideal for streaming content between two or more TiVo DVRs, or TiVo Mini.

MoCA network

(Ethernet over COAX)

TiVo BOLT has a built-in MoCA netowrk adapter so no additional adapters are required.

This is ideal for streaming content between TiVo devices if you don't have wried Ethernet. If you have Verizon FiOS, your network is already MoCA-enabled!

Two Ways MoCA works with BOLT:

1. If your router is next to your TiVo BOLT, connect an Ethernet cable and coax cable to your BOLT to turn on MoCA throughout your home. Then connect other devices using just a coax cable.

2. When your router is located elsewhere, connect the TiVo Bridge accessory to your router and coaxial cable. Then connect TiVo devices by using coax.

For more detailed instructions, go here.

Wireless

All TiVo BOLT boxes have built-in wireless capability.

This method does not support streaming content between two or more TiVo devices such as TiVo DVRs, or TiVo Mini.
