Service Plan Terms and Conditions

Any TiVo Unified Entertainment System, TiVo DVR or TiVo Mini requires a TiVo service subscription, and we currently offer several options:

For purchases on tivo.com, or through any other retail sales channel, of any new models (or models previously activated for 30 or fewer days) of the TiVo BOLT or the TiVo Roamio (other than a TiVo Roamio OTA 1 TB), you may select any of the following service subscriptions:

• A monthly service plan, at the current rate of $14.99/month (plus any applicable taxes), with a one (1)-year commitment and a $75 early termination fee1; or

• An annual service plan, at the then-published rate (currently $149.99/year, plus any applicable taxes)2;

• An All-in plan, for a one (1)-time payment at the current rate of $549.99 (plus any applicable taxes).3

For purchases through any retail sales channel of any model of the TiVo BOLT or TiVo Roamio (other than a TiVo Roamio OTA 1 TB) previously activated for over 30 days, you may select any of the following service subscriptions:

• A monthly service plan, at the current rate of $14.99/month (plus any applicable taxes), with no commitment; or

• An annual service plan, at the then-published rate (currently $149.99/year, plus any applicable taxes)2; or

• A monthly service plan, at the current rate of $14.99/month (plus any applicable taxes), with no commitment; or

• An All-in plan, for a one (1)-time payment at the current rate of $549.99 (plus any applicable taxes).3

For purchases, through any retail sales channel, of any previously activated TiVo DVR model other than a TiVo BOLT, TiVo Roamio or TiVo Premiere, you may select either:

• A monthly service plan, at the current rate of $12.95/month (plus any applicable taxes), with no commitment; or

Additional Terms and Restrictions

TiVo Service Subscriptions:

• No-commitment monthly service is available with the purchase of a new full-priced TiVo device directly from TiVo (call TiVo Customer Service, at 877-289-8486, for more information). No-commitment monthly service is available with the purchase of a previously activated TiVo device from a third party.

• With respect solely to any TiVo BOLT or TiVo Roamio DVR which is eligible for, and on which you have obtained, either an annual service plan or a monthly service plan (but not an All-in plan): your service plan includes, at no additional charge, an enhanced limited warranty (known as "Continual Care") for the full, uninterrupted duration of your annual or monthly TiVo service subscription. With Continual Care, and for a cost of $49.00 (plus shipping and any applicable taxes) after ninety (90) days from your purchase date, you can exchange a defective or inoperative TiVo BOLT or TiVo Roamio DVR for a repaired, renewed or comparable product (at TiVo's discretion). The exchange exclusions and restrictions contained in the TiVo DVR Limited Warranty continue to apply; please visit Limited Warranty Info for details.

• Under certain TiVo offers, particular service plan options (e.g., a monthly plan; an annual service plan; an All-in plan) may not be available. Call TiVo Customer Service (at 877-367-8486) for details on any such current promotional offers.

• The TiVo BOLT and TiVo DVRs do not work with satellite. The TiVo Premiere 4/XL4/Elite DVRs and the TiVo Roamio Pro/Plus DVRs are intended for use with digital cable systems only and do not work with external cable boxes, analog cable, or over-the-air antennas. The TiVo BOLT does not work with external cable boxes or analog cable.

To receive digital cable channels, a TiVo BOLT or TiVo DVR requires one multi-stream CableCARD decoder from your cable provider. Additional fees may apply.

  • Will my TiVo Roamio OTA DVR work with my HD antenna?

    Yup, the TiVo Roamio OTA works with any HD digital antenna. The TiVo BOLT, by contrast, works with either a digital HD antenna or digital cable subscription.

  • What type of signal sources are TiVo Roamio OTA DVRs compatible with?

    TiVo Roamio OTA receives signals from a digital HD antenna. It is not compatible with cable, Fios, U-Verse or satellite.

  • If I use TiVo Roamio OTA with an antenna, do the stations I receive cost me anything?

    Of course not! They’re absolutely free. Here’s how it works: Roamio OTA has four ATSC tuners that allow the DVR to record up to four channels at once from digital over-the-air broadcasts in full HD clarity. ATSC broadcasts are completely free and are accessible by using any HD antenna, which are available for purchase at retail stores or from tivo.com.

  • What stations will I get with a digital HD antenna used in combination with TiVo Roamio OTA?

    In short, it depends. Factors like the type and size of the antenna you’re using and its location (on roof, in attic, in living room) will be key factors in determining how many free stations you’ll receive. Also, your proximity to broadcast sources will affect the number and variety of channels you’ll receive. Most newcomers to an HD antenna setup are pleasantly surprised—even pleasantly shocked—by the number and mix of free channels they receive. In many cases, the big networks—like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS—are the channels you’ll receive. However, your channel lineup will be unique to your location, surroundings, antenna type and antenna location.

  • Is there a service fee or commitment?

    No. Never. Roamio OTA is sold with an All-In Service Plan, which is included for the life of the product. There is no additional service fee or commitment. If you use streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, those fees are not included and must be purchased separately and paid for through your account.

  • How much can I record with my TiVo Roamio OTA?

    Lots. You can record up to four shows at once. The TiVo Roamio OTA’s 1TB of recording capacity allows you to record up to 150 hours of HD programming. That’s enough for everybody in a crowded house to feel good about having enough room for their must-see shows.

  • What the heck is SkipMode™? Does that come with TiVo Roamio OTA? And how does it help me avoid commercials?

    SkipMode lets you skip entire commercial breaks at the press of a button. SkipMode is available when you're watching a recorded show. Although not all shows will be available with the SkipMode feature, we've taken great pains to ensure we're covering most of the channels that most people in the TiVo community record a lot. See channel details. Any show you record that is enabled with the SkipMode feature will display a SKIP icon next to the episode title in your MyShows folder. Once a commercial break starts, just hit the green "D" button or the Channel Up button, and you'll resume your show in the blink of an eye. Cool, eh? If you hit the button during a program, you'll skip all the way through your show and through the next commercial break, so you can pick up on the other side, which is totally awesome for skipping those dull parts you don't want to see.

  • What about QuickMode™? Does TiVo Roamio OTA have that, too? And what does it do exactly?

    Some programming is nice to watch at a faster pace—news, baseball, soccer and political speeches come to mind. When activated, QuickMode plays your recorded shows at a 30% faster rate, while also keeping the audio from getting all squirrely on you. This pitch-corrected audio lets you comfortably speed through content and still understand what everyone is saying. You can watch a 60-minute show in approximately 40 minutes. (And if you're skipping commercial breaks as well, you're moving even faster.)

  • Can I use my mobile device to control my TiVo Roamio OTA? Can I schedule a recording while I’m away from home?

    The free TiVo app for tablets and smartphones is a great way to keep your TiVo Roamio OTA at your fingertips. Available for both iOS and Android, the app lets you see what’s on tonight, schedule a recording, manage upcoming tasks or search for a show you just heard about at work. You can control this stuff from anywhere you have a connection to the Internet. This handy app even has a remote control feature if you prefer controlling your TiVo Roamio OTA on the couch with your mobile device.

  • What happens if my TiVo Roamio OTA breaks?

    All TiVo DVRs are subject to the standard TiVo DVR warranty. Please see the TiVo DVR limited warranty for details. TiVo also offers two (2) year and three (3) year extended warranty plans, which may be purchased within ninety (90) days from the earlier of the DVR purchase date or TiVo service activation date.

  • How does the money back guarantee work?

    TiVo offers a 30-day, money-back guarantee. This only applies to initial activations if canceled within 30 days and the TiVo box or accessory is returned for a full refund. If you cancel within 30 days of activation (which is typically the date your order ships), you will receive a full refund if you return the TiVo box and accessory, if applicable, within 15 days of cancellation. The shipping charge for the return is at your expense. If you do not return the TiVo box and accessory, if applicable, within the first 30 days of activation, you will be charged a "Non-returned Equipment Fee" equal to the MSRP of the TiVo box and accessory, if applicable, and applicable taxes minus the upfront cost of the box and accessory, if applicable. If you change your subscription plan within the first 30 days of activation, you may be charged a fee equal to the MSRP of the TiVo box and accessory, if applicable, and applicable taxes minus the upfront cost of the box and accessory, if applicable, depending on the subscription plan you choose. Service plan renewals, and hardware replacements and upgrades are not eligible for the 30-day money-back guarantee.
    Returned DVRs must include all original components, literature, warranties and packaging in the same saleable condition in which it was received. Refunds for returns will cover product amount and any sales taxes charged. Refunds will not be made for any shipping and handling charges. Returns not meeting these requirements may be subject to a restocking fee equaling 15% of the retail value of the DVR (not including taxes). Damaged merchandise, cosmetically or otherwise, is subject to an increased restocking fee on a case-by-case basis. If an order has shipped, it is the purchaser's responsibility to accept the shipment and return the order per our Return Policy. Orders that are refused at the designated shipping address may incur a 15% restocking fee.

  • What retail stores sell TiVo products?

  • Can I use the classic SD UI if I want?

    No. Classic SD UI is no longer available on TiVo Roamio and future platforms. Users can still set their aspect ratio to 4:3 and/or their Video Output Format to 480i/p so the UI can be viewed on an SD TV, but instead of switching back to Classic UI, it will scale the UI down.

  • What do the Roamio front-panel display lights (circles) represent?

    The green light tells you the power is on.
    The yellow light indicates remote activity; you will see it blink every time you press a remote key.
    The blue light indicates a program is being downloaded onto the box. This could come from a broadband source, such as Amazon Prime, or from another TiVo DVR on your home network that is transferring a program.
    The red lights correspond to the four tuners inside your TiVo Roamio OTA; if one tuner is recording a program, the red circle will be on. The additional curved red lights to the right of the circle (some say this looks like a caterpillar) will light up as each additional tuner is activated showing that between 1 – 4 tuners are currently recording different programs simultaneously.

  • Does the TiVo Roamio OTA have an HDMI port?

    All TiVo Roamio DVRs provide an HDMI output. TiVo Roamio OTA supports up to 16 simultaneous HDMI connections when connected to a compatible HDMI switch.
